Nearly 40 tourist spots in Beijing have been closed as heavy rain was forecast in the city from Sunday night to Monday.

Rain since Tuesday has all but saturated the soil in the capital Philadelphia Flyers Jersey , prompting a yellow alert for geological disaster that has been in force for days. Torrential rain has swept across China with the provinces of Henan and Hebei, and the national capital Beijing among the worst hit.

The 39 destinations are mostly in the capital's mountainous outskirts, including Mentougou, Fangshan, Huairou and Yanqing.

The rain is expected to greatly affect morning rush hour traffic on Monday.

Besides, heavy rain continues to batter Northeast China's Liaoning Province and the provincial meteorology station maintained its storm alert on Friday.

The average precipitation in Liaoning from 8 am Wednesday to 8 am Friday was 89.8 millimeters.

The maximum precipitation was recorded in Suizhong county of Huludao which saw 398 millimeters of rainfall.

A red storm alert, the highest in China's Tier Four color coded warning system, was issued for Dandong city early Friday morning.

BUDAPEST, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Organizers have provided the best conditions possible for a perfect Championship, Hungarian Minister for National Development and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Miklos Sesztak said here Tuesday at a press conference.

"We have provided the best conditions possible, it's now the athletes' turn to shine in these venues," Sesztak said.

"We invested a lot in creating superb infrastructures for these Championships, but these facilities will remain for the youth of Budapest and Hungary. They represent a solid investment for the sport development of our nation," Sesztak said.

"We are very honored and happy to be here in Budapest, the magnificent Hungarian capital! The competition is about to start and I can already say that FINA will most probably celebrate the best World Championships in its history," said FINA president Julio Maglione, also present at the press conference.

"This is outstanding taking into account that the authorities had only two years to prepare this organization. What was done here in Budapest and in lake Balaton is simply impressive and the venues are all amazing facilities," Maglione added.

FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu was also optimistic about the outcome of the competition.

"Our FINA World Championships are one of the biggest sport events in the world. Two years ago, in Kazan 2015, we had an unprecedented 6.8 billion cumulative TV viewers, demonstrating the attractiveness and strength of Aquatics. I believe we can do better here in Budapest," Marculescu declared.

At the end of the press conference, the first two gold medals of Budapest worlds were symbolically awarded to Maglione and Marculescu.

The tournament starts on July 14, 2017 and will attract over 2,200 athletes from around 180 National Federations. Until July 30, Budapest and Balaton (West of Hungary) will live at the rhythm of FINA's six aquatic disciplines - swimming, water Polo, diving, synchronised swimming, open water Swimming and high diving, and its citizens will be able to enjoy 75 events on the program of FINA's showcase event.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Head coach of the German men's table tennis team, Jorg Rosskopf, sounded a little bit helpless after losing Monday's team semifinal 3-1 to Japan at the Rio Olympic Games.

"We were sure that they'd put this lineup. And we wanted these two matches in the beginning," commented the former Olympic bronze medalist of men's singles in Atlanta 1996, referring to the right decision he'd made over the start list.

Leading one set up after Dimitrij Ovtcharov easing past Maharu Yoshimura 3-0, Germany sent on 35-year-old Timo Boll to face off with Japan's top male paddler, world No. 6 Jun Mizutani, who wasted no chance to beat the former No. 1 Boll 11-9, 11-5, 12-10.

The following doubles game almost set the tune for the match as Boll teamed up with Bastian Steger and lost 3-1 to Yoshimura and Koki NIwa, before Steger came up in the fourth game and surrendered easily to Mizutani 11-5, 11-4, 11-4.

"Japan was very strong today. The best match they ever played against us, I would say, especially Mizutani and the doubles they won points from. They deserved to win," said Boll.

"It was a little pity that I lost the first set after a high lead 7-2 and serving also at 9-9. This was maybe one of the key points in the game because we had 1-0 in upbeat," he added.

"The problem is that after losing the first, he was less self-confident," said Rosskopf.

Boll agreed with his coach about that, saying he's not able to "play so free and so aggressive any more".

"He played really good, but we have to say that the Japanese players were really fantastic," added Rosskopf as for the doubles. "It's not so easy to keep the ball over the table in a short-short position. Niwa played fantastic."

Asked if he would change the starting lineup, Rosskopf said: "We could, but we don't want to. That's the best lineup that we have."

"We decided in the last moment when we watching our opponents warming up," said Boll. "We took the right dec.
